2007 Annual Managers' Meeting with Coveted Employee Awards
The annual Managers' Meeting
was held on December 4 at the Glendale Hilton with 100% attendance by all
participants. Company president
Jim Pietsch shared the
ongoing growth and successes of the company with challenges ahead as the company
continues to expand. Beth
Celo, EVP shared her
thanks and accolades to the current roll of managers who continue to provide
their best effort and commitment to the mission and vision of Interstate
Rehab.
Our
2007 Manager of the Year
is Frank Chan MPT of San Gabriel Valley Medical Center. The other
contenders for the award were
Chris Clauss, PT and
Jake Baker, PT. Frank
started with Interstate in 2001 as a Rover Aide and has worked through the ranks
from being a staff PT to Lead Therapist on ARU to Supervisor of Physical Therapy
and now Director of Rehab at
San Gabriel Valley Medical Center.
“Hardworking”, “dedicated”, “easy to talk to”, “big teddy bear” are a few words
that staff have used to describe
Frank Chan MPT. Frank
has been called upon many times to help with transitioning new contracts
including
Hollywood Presbyterian, Sherman Oaks Grossman Burn Center
and
San Gabriel Valley Medical Center,
all which he did successfully. Frank has worked in all areas including, TCU,
Acute, Burn Center, Acute Rehab and is now “refreshing’ his treatment skills for
the NICU. He is open to new challenges including learning to make splints for
burn patients. If anyone needs to learn how to make aeroplane splints, Frank is
the guy! Congratulations to Frank for a well deserved honor!
The
2007 Therapist of The Year is
Cheryl Candelaria PT
of Valley Presbyterian Hospital.
Runner-Up is
Eric Gopez, PT who is
supervising the SNF at Hemet. Cheryl joined Interstate via our Foreign Trained
PTLA program in 2004 at
Chino Valley Medical Center.
With her final weeks of completion of the program approaching, she was asked to
transfer to
Hollywood Presbyterian
to assist in starting our new
contract. After working at Hollywood Presbyterian, Cheryl again was transferred
to
St Vincent Medical Center.
Recently, she transferred to
Valley Presbyterian
for the opportunity to further her skills in the OP area. While at Valley
Presbyterian, she has also become proficient in working in the NICU! Cheryl’s
“journeys” of a therapist does not end at Valley Presbyterian. Since her
transfer, she continues to help out at
St. Vincent, Sherman Oaks
and
Mission Community
hospitals whenever requested. Cheryl is a great role model for therapists as
she is very flexible and always willing to take on new challenges such as
treatment of burn patients and assist in training new therapists. On her last
day of her vacation and at the airport, Cheryl called into Valley Presbyterian
Hospital to see how things were going. She was told that a therapist called in
sick and that they would be short one therapist to see children in Clinic.
Without hesitation, Cheryl offered to come in so that the therapist remaining
would not be overwhelmed. We commend Cheryl for the commitment she has for her
peers, patients and the profession.
